El Seed is a street artist from France that has created some interesting street art in Cairo, Egypt. His complex street project entitled “Perception” uses a mixture of anamorphosis and calligraffiti on the backdrop of a crowded area of Cairo. Seed used historical Arabic calligraphy in his painted mural which depicts a quote from a Christian bishop of the 3rd century which reads: “If one wants to see the light of the sun, he must wipe his eyes.” Seed spread this painting over fifty buildings, with each part of the painting aligned perfectly with other parts of the painting that are on different buildings.
Seed did this entire project in secret. He did not get permission or assistance from the local government authorities to do these paintings. Plus, he self-funded all of the paint and materials used for the project. Most people probably won’t notice the painting even exists unless they were to climb up Mokattam mountain, which hovers over Cairo. Once you get to the top of this mountain, you can look down and see the giant circle of the painting.
